1) Do I get any certificates as a registered merchant with Mobile Money?

There would be no certificates provided. Mobile Money will provide you with the Mobile Money sticker for you to display at your store. If you accept Mobile Money as a payment method on your e-commerce website, just simply put up the Mobile Money logo.

 

2) What happens if Mobile Money hotline number is not reachable? Do merchants have an alternative?

The Toll free Merchant Care Hotline Number - 1800-8777-98 is a hunting line. Your call to Mobile Money may be in a queue which will be attended to shortly. Alternatively, you may e-mail Mobile Money at merchantcare@mobile-money.com or fax your request to 03-8076 6155.

 

3) What happens to my account if I am inactive for a continuous 3 months?

Your account will still be active even though you have not used the services for the past 3 months.

 

4) If I were to refer another merchant, would I receive any commission?

No. Only agents are eligible for commision, period.

 

5) What is Mobile Money?

Mobile Money is an innovative ATM (Access To Mobile) payment system that gives customers the convenience of cash-free shopping. For more information, please refer to Mobile Money Overview.

 

6) If I'm unable to perform a transaction over at my retail store would I be able to call the hotline and get the consultants to perform the transactions on our behalf?

No. The transactions must be initiated/requested by the merchant themselves for security reasons. The consultants would be able to advise the merchant on the steps to initiate a payment.

 

7) What are the transaction methods offered for billing?

SMS (Short Messages Service) - For small business with low transactions or where the fixed phone line is not available.

Fixed Phone Line:
For merchants with small number of transaction
Most common application for small business. You dial toll free 1800-8777-68 and interact with IVR for billing and other transaction purpose. You can also make a request via IVR to retrieve the total number of transactions, the amount and the last 10 transactions detail which delivered to your mobile as a FREE SMS.

For merchants with large volume of transactions
Mobile Money is acquiring a phone that can display the transaction info on the screen, so merchants just need to copy the approval code on the receipt. It will also display total number of transactions for the day and total amount. Available soon!

POS Terminal - For merchants with POS(Point-of-Sale) terminal, you can hire system integrator to customize the software to connect real time to Mobile Money payment gateway using a broadband connection (eg TMNet Streamyx). However, please double check with your POS vendor on the licensing terms, warranty and support issues. One of the best practise for crowded restaurants and shops to cut long queues. The receipt is automatically printed out as normally done with the approval code on it.

Website - For merchants who has Internet access, this is most recommended as it is simple, fast and you can see all the records there easily by just using a web browsers.

Weblink - For merchants who like to accept Mobile Money as a payment method on their e-commerce website. Weblink is an Application Programming Interface(API) which you need to integrate with e-commerce software to enable you to request for payment in real time. For local merchants who have limited choices when it comes to payment gateway, Mobile Money is one of the most secure and cost effective way to bill the customer.

10) What is the minimum purchase amount to be transacted via Mobile Money?

The minimum transaction amount is RM 10.00.

 

11) How secured is your Mobile Money code system?

Mobile Money provides 6-digit security pin that works just as your bank ATM card pin code to authorize any remote payments. In addition, it's a "LOCKED OUT" Payment System that does the following:

  • Every transaction of the day is confirmed by the bank with a confirmation code. The merchant will receive an approval code.
  • Every transaction is displayed on the Mobile Money Website (Requires Login).
  • At the end of the day, all transactions are double-checked by banks and Mobile Money.
  • Bank keeps your money until payment instruction to pay you is completed by 9am the next morning.
  • You can check whether the amount stated in the payment instruction to pay you is correct.
  • At noon, the bank will transfer the money to the Mobile Money clearance account and payment is distributed to you the next day.
  • Money is locked to the standing instruction before the money is sent to the Mobile Money clearance account (non-cheque account) to be distributed to you.

 

12) What is meant by the close loop system?

Close loop system is where you get an immediate response to your payment as soon as it is made or transaction is taking place. Example; if there is an unauthorized or an interruption taken place, our system could detect within 10-15 seconds where you will be able to find out by yourself via SMS.
