eBay is coming to town!
Jim Griffith, Dean of eBay University will be flying in to conduct a half day eBay University seminar in Malaysia at 12th November 2006. Venue is Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Grand Ballroom 2.
Jim is an eBay evangelist, he educates people on everything from basic search tips to growing a serious business on eBay. He is also the author of The Official eBay Bible and host of eBay Radio.
So, does it mean that Ebay has finally paid attention to Malaysia? Is our local home-grown auction site, Lelong, at the risk of exile? Will Paypal support direct withdrawal to our local bank account anytime soon? There are a bunch of questions we believe the avid local ebay community would like to throw at him.
For those who don’t already know. eBay actually has a presence in Malaysia for almost 2 years already. It lets individuals and small businesses in Malaysia list and sell goods and services on the site for FREE. But somehow, they are not as popular as it supposed to be. When it comes to auction website, Lelong Malaysia apparently still take the lead, period. It’s not that Malaysian don’t sell online, just that most sellers choose to sell at eBay.com instead of eBay.com.my due to International Business Opportunity.
Whatever it may be, it’s good news for the local community. What Malaysia need now is more awareness and education on how auction, online payment, e-commerce store, selling online, SEO etc actually works and why the infrastructure in place is already secured enough. If eBay really start contribute certain resources here (hey, only if they see potential for profit, of course), it would spell good news for the local e-commerce industry as a whole.
Registration is open till 31 October 2006 only. So ladies and gentlmen, register NOW to grab your seat!
