Update: Aodhan just nominated for Europe’s Young Entrepreneurs 2007, vote for him if you like and use his services!

StatCounter currently has over 1.3 million members and tracks 9 billion pageloads per month for 2 million websites. It’s one of our all time favorite website statistic tracking tool, we love it so much that we decide to build something so our customers can have it easily installed into both the SEO shopping cart and SEO e-catalog software.

Statcounter Founder

Look at the picture above, don’t be fooled by the beard. He’s only 24 now (gosh, makes me feel old). The year he founded statcounter.com was back at 1999, when he was only 16. (i surrender, i admit i’m old) He started off with website design. But his clients were wondering how they can tell whether anyone has visited their website? It was after that he started to develop statcounter and it eventually grow into one of the most popular tool around the world with a PR9! (used to be PR10).

If you want a real-time web statistic counter that’s very easy to use (much easier than Google Analytics), please give statcounter a try. You will love it, especially when you use it with our webshaper shopping cart solution.

Posted in Web Technologies at 1:28 am by admin

uptime.gifDo you suffer any “downtime” of your web server lately? As website increasingly becoming more and more important to every businesses (esp true for e-commerce website involve in monetary transaction!), can you afford even a 1 minute downtime? Honestly, we can, since we don’t serve millions of users nor taking in thousands of dollars per second like those running online gambling. For most of the legit small business, you don’t need 100% uptime! Because 99.9999% is good enough :)

But those serving millions of users eg the BiG 3 – GYM, (Google, Yahoo & MSN), they really cannot afford even a single second downtime.

Check out the interesting stat of the Uptime for the 20 most popular websites in US

PS: Why GYM? GYM > WORKOUT > MUSCLE > POWER > ABUSE > BULLY > DESTROYED. Anything better to describe the 3 gorilla currently dominating the web now? write to us!

Mash-UP aka Mixing Web Services

Posted in E-commerce, Online Marketing, Web Technologies at 1:35 pm by admin

mix.jpg

Mash-ups – in software terms, describing software developers mixing web services available from third party websites into their own website or web application to create whole new level of services.

So, Why mash-ups? Simple, the Web was originally designed to be mashed up. And now it is only the beginning that it starts to show its enormous potential. Moreover at time where more and more software are being delivered as services over the net. It means a big shift, a definite change agent in how the software companies (like us) do business, and almost virtually everyone, every website online.

“They’re taking little bits and pieces from a number of companies and stitching them together in some clever way,” Amazon Chief Executive Jeffrey P. Bezos noted recently. “You’ll start to see the real power of Web services.”

For one thing, Google and other Web giants like Amazon, Microsoft, Yahoo are now embracing the mash-up movement by offering developers easier access to their data and services. That’s where the Microsoft LIVE initiative kick-in after they realize they are left behind Google in this pursue.

For instance, Map-based mash-up with ordering management in webShaper e-commerce, might assist the merchants in lowering down the risk of fraud and eventually chargeback. These are some of the Mash-ups which will be proved invaluable to merchants selling online. And Mashup will be one of our core development strategy for foreseeable future. Stay tuned, you will see more and more valuable services being mashed-up with our solution to empower the merchants.

Read more on what Bill Gates has to say about the web mashed-up (web 2.0).
